FAQ about general dentistry?
What is tartar?
How does cavities form?
Cavity prevention includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and regular dental check-ups. It is also important to avoid foods and drinks high in sugar. Special attention should be given to the back teeth, as cavities most often develop on them.
What are the symptoms of a tooth nerve infection?
How long does a composite filling last, and when should it be replaced?
What is periodontology?
Periodontology is a branch of dental medicine that focuses on diseases affecting the supporting structures of the teeth. Teeth are held in place by connective fibers known as periodontal ligaments, which are anchored in a thin and delicate bone surrounding the tooth. The visible part of this structure is called the gingiva, commonly known as the gums. From the moment a tooth erupts until it is lost, there is a constant battle between bacteria and the body’s defense mechanisms. When bacteria manage to destroy the soft tissues and bone around the tooth, a well-known condition called periodontitis develops.
How to easily recognise the onset of periodontitis?
Periodontitis can be identified by frequent gum bleeding while cleaning or brushing your teeth. It is often accompanied by bad breath, an unpleasant taste, and persistent odour in the mouth. In more advanced cases, symptoms may include loose teeth and gum recession. Inflamed and swollen gums, as well as a colour change from pink to dark red or even purple, are clear signs of periodontitis. A clinical examination by a dentist is essential to determine whether periodontal disease is present. Waiting only worsens the condition and makes treatment more difficult. We strongly recommend checking the health of your teeth at the first sign of concern—don’t wait until they start falling out, as by then, it may be too late.
